We live in a fast-paced world, thoughts are constantly running through our heads and we often cannot stop them (e.g. when we want to go to sleep and we keep thinking about them; or when thinking about a work problem bothers you and makes you nervous even when you are with your family).

Mindfulness is a set of lessons and exercises that help you learn how to calm your mind, reduce tension and the flow of arbitrary thinking, and focus better.

You will find out why this area has gained massive popularity in recent years, what benefits it brings and why it is called "mind-fitness".
We will try out a wide range of practical techniques and you will get instructions on how to build your own practice.

Course content

Introduction, course setting and expectations, entry mapping

We'll get to know each other, we'll agree on setting the rules. We frame what mindfulness is about and each of the participants defines what they would like to take away from the course.

Context - the world that surrounds us, the air we breathe

We look around to realize what global trends we are in and how these trends affect our lives. Why is the stress load increasing and what impact do these influences have on the functioning of our mind.

How our mind works

We will learn to recognize 3 basic modes of mind and their functioning.
We will become aware of where we move most often and what impact this has on our life and work.

The three pillars of mindfulness

In this block, we will go through the three pillars of mindfulness together, which will bring a simple system to everything.
1. Mind and attention training
Benefits of this practice: better concentration, peace of mind and better sleep; silencing the flow of thoughts

2. Cultivating presence
Benefits of this practice: improvement of the quality of experiencing life and enjoyment of life, better understanding of one's own needs and emotions (development of emotional intelligence)

3. Cultivation of the quality of attention
Benefits of this practice: less critical orientation towards oneself and the world (more balanced perception), relaxation, better self-confidence, greater overall satisfaction 

In each pillar, you will learn a series of practical techniques that will allow you to train your brain to perform better. At the same time, all techniques are simple and do not require any significant time investment, i.e. they are not burdensome.
 

Where are the roots of mindfulness (where did it come from) and what does science say about the benefits of this practice?

We will explore together where the concept of mindfulness came from in modern history, and where its traditional roots are. We look at what science says about the benefits this practice brings to our modern world and go through some of the most interesting experiments.

Practical applications

We will see what it looks like when we use the concept of mindfulness in two very practical areas:
In difficult communication situations - When someone criticizes you
In time-management - How to improve productivity 

We will explore together what it looks like when we behave habitually (automatically) in each of these areas and how we can use mindfulness to act more consciously and increase our chances of success. 

How to build a sustainable practice

Each participant creates his own original "Mindful ME" compass and takes away a commitment to what he will practice in his personal and professional life. 

Looking back and feedback

We will summarize the key information, see if we have succeeded in fulfilling the purpose of the course and share feedback.
